Money magazine has released a list of Best Big Cities in America. To be identified as a big city, the metro area must have at least a population of 300,000+. The list breaks down the best big city in each region of the County which offers strong job growth, affordable housing, good schools, low crime and great quality-of-life features.

Colorado Springs- Best in the Mountains

  • Population- 444,776
  • Median House Price $227,500
  • Property Tax- $1,100

Located in the shadow of 14,000 foot Pikes Peak, the area is home to flagship U.S. Olympic Training Center and hundreds of miles of stunning hiking and biking trails nestled along the Colorado Front Range.

Located at 6,035 feet and enjoying an accelerating economy, thanks to bleed over from Denver's record setting market, it is outpacing the rate of growth for the rest of Colorado, and most of the rest of the country.

The area is home to high dollar aerospace employers such as the U.S. Air Force Academy, NORAD, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing.

Low crime, easy commutes, good schools, and numerous health care options have all contributed to this 'Best Of' ranking!
